How to choose a tile that lasts 30 years — and how we prove it

A tile is one of the few things in your home you live with for three decades. Get it wrong and you see the mistake every day. So before we ever talk price, let us help you understand what a tile is actually made of, and how it will behave under real life.

Start with the body, not the surface. A full-body vitrified tile carries the same dense material all the way through its thickness — so a chip or scratch barely shows, and it takes punishment for years. An ordinary tile is just a thin glazed top over a weaker body. Vitrified tiles are fired until clay and silica fuse into a hard, low-absorption body — ideal for living rooms and busy floors, available as double-charge, GVT and nano-polished. Ceramic is the sensible, value choice for walls and lighter areas. Porcelain/Vitrified  is the premium end, with the lowest water absorption and finest finish.

Then choose the finish — it changes more than looks. Glossy reflects light and makes a room feel larger, but shows every water spot in a bathroom. Matt hides marks and grips better underfoot. Lappato (semi-polished) is the middle path many of our customers love — the richness of polish with less glare and better grip. For any wet area, always anti-skid.

Match the size to the room. 300×300 mm for bathroom floors where drainage matters; 1200×600 for bedrooms; 1800×1200 and larger to open up living areas with fewer grout lines.
